Negotiations
We
negotiate all the time. Nevertheless even experienced negotiators often leave
the table without reaching the best possible outcome of negotiation. Frequently
it is the language barrier itself, which weakens our negotiation position.
Everyone who has tried negotiating in a foreign language knows that such
negotiations represent a double challenge. On the other hand, knowledge of
our negotiator’s language enables us to gain a significant advantage in
negotiating. Understanding the co-negotiator, his or her motives, wishes and
expectations can be the key to a good result in negotiating.
You have probably noticed yourself that the knowledge you have acquired on a
general language course does not help much in concrete negotiation situations
with your business partner. Therefore, it is much more useful and effective to
learn negotiation skills in a foreign language.
